Election 2014: Moore chosen as Rossland's next mayor

Tie for final seat on council results in judicial recount

Kathy Moore will be spending the next four years as the mayor of Rossland.

Moore took 1,240 votes, winning by a landslide against opponent Jill Spearn's 363 votes.

Only five of the six spots four councillor have been filled, according to preliminary election results. The last spot will be decided by a judicial recount after Tim Thatcher and John Greene tied with 788 votes each.

With a 59.9 per cent voter turnout, Aaron Cosbey (1294 votes), Marten Kruysse (1276), Andrew Zwicker (1275), Andrew Morel (1233) and Lloyd McLellan (948) won the other five seats on the council.

Greg Granstrom received 444 votes and did not win a seat on council.
