A house fire in Warfield has claimed the life of one man. The cause remains under investigation.

A house fire in Warfield has claimed the life of one man.

The 9-1-1 call came into Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Four Warfield firefighters from Company 2 responded alongside 14 members from Company 4 in Trail.

Acting Captain Rick Morris reports an elderly male was deceased at the scene.

“He was found inside the house and we did bring him out,” Morris said. “And he was deceased.”

The fire was extinguished shortly after 3 p.m. Fire rescue has secured the property, which is a two-story single family dwelling located near the Warfield pool.

The name and official cause of death has not been released.

The cause of the fatal incident remains under investigation.
