‘Jean up’ in support of BC Children’s Hospital

Thursday is Jeans Day, an annual campaign that’s raised $20 million in 26 years

Dress for the day in your best Canadian tuxedo and help support BC Children’s Hospital.

The annual Jeans Day fundraiser has raised more than $20 million since the event’s inception in 1990. This year, the hospital’s foundation has set a goal of raising $1.2 million, earmarked for Excellence in Child Health Fund.

The one-day fundraiser involves purchasing a $5 button or a $20 lapel pin from stores across the province, including Save-on-Foods, London Drugs and Country Grocer with funds supporting the hospital.

“We encourage all British Columbians who are participating in Jeans Day on May 4 to challenge themselves to come up with the most unique jean attire,” said Teri Nicholas, president and CEO of BCCHF.

This years Jeans Day ambassadors include Henrik and Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks, David Ousted of Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Jason Arakgi of the BC Lions.

For those who decide to “jean up” and support the cause posting a photo of their denim outfit to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #JeanUp and tagging @bcchf will be entered into a draw to win $500 worth of jeans courtesy of Jeans Day denim partner Mavi Jeans.
