The BCSPCA’s event is going on today (Saturday) until 2 p.m. at Gyro Park. Besides plenty of furry friends on hand, entertainment and games, Phoenix the Gentle Giant has joined the event which raises funds for cruelty prevention, education programs and the enforcement of animal cruelty laws. Eve Turner brought Phoenix, the area’s first certified therapy dog in support of the cause - Phoenix is certified by Ottawa Therapy Dogs/RCMP and can visit schools, seniors, special needs, and at-risk youth.
