The School District 20 board of trustees approved the busing fees schedule at a meeting on Monday night.
Fees vary depending on the number of children in a household and when parents register online.
There’s also a payment plan available, with a total of ten payments to be made. The first must be made between June 15 and July 31, and the other nine will need to be made between the end of August and the end of April 2017.

Trustees also approved a low income waiver form for the new busing fees.
The income requirements to have the fees waived are based on Statistics Canada’s low income thresholds.

Trustees also made changes to the late French Immersion program that will impact Rossland students.
Rossland Summit School (RSS) currently offers a late French Immersion program that runs from Grade 6 to 9, but students who wish to continue in the program currently have to transfer to Stanely Humphries Secondary School in Castlegar.
But on Monday, trustees approved a late French Immersion program starting at Grade 10 at J. Lloyd Crowe Secondary School, so that those students can now transfer to Crowe instead. The program will start being offered in the 2017-2018 school year. In the meantime, the board also voted to offer Grade 10 French Immersion at RSS for the first semester of 2016-2017.
