We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Caroline (Carrie) Margaret Matthews on July 8,2010,4 days after her 89 birthday. She was born on July 4,1921 in Southey, Saskatchewan and moved to Trail in her early 20's. She worked in the shoe department of The Company Store which later became The Bay, eventually becoming the manager of the shoe department. She particularly delighted in fitting children with their new shoes and there are still residents in Trail who had bought their shoes from her. She was a hard worker and an avid gardener. She also loved to go bowling and belonged to a league for many years. Carrie belonged to the Peace Lutheran Church as well as to their Ladies Aid group. Carrie was loved by many because of her ready smile and energetic personality. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Carrie was predeceased by her parents, her 8 brothers and sisters, 2 nieces, her first husband Ross Matthews (50 years of marriage) and her second husband Clay Dorsey(10 years) who passed away on June 7, 2010. She is survived by her stepdaughter Diane and 16 nieces and nephews.
According to Carrie's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Her remains have been cremated and laid to rest beside Ross in the KP Cemetery in Glenmerry. Carberry’s was in charge of the arrangements.
