With her nieces by her side, Catherine Edith Howe passed away on August 31, 2017.

She was born on December 16, 1940 to Arthur and Margaret Howe in Radway, AB and moved with her family to Michel, BC in the fall of 1942.

Cathy studied nursing and graduated from Royal Columbian Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. Her career took her from New Westminster to Dawson Creek, Vancouver, and Prince George.

Then she spread her wings and worked in New Zealand and Australia. Upon her return to Canada, Cathy worked in Trail for 2 years at the Trail Regional Hospital.

She moved on to Nelson where she was Chief Instructor in a licensed Practical Nurses Training Program. After obtaining a post-graduate diploma in Critical Care Nursing from the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, she became an instructor in the program. Cathy then spent 2 years in Ghana as an instructor at the Tamale State Registered and Enrolled Nursing College. Cathy finished her nursing career as Head Nurse at St. Patrick's in Ottawa.

After retiring, Cathy returned to Trail in 2004. She spent many years as a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a member of The Salvation Army and volunteered with Community Care Ministries, Kate's Kitchen and Food Bank.

Cathy was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Margaret, brothers Carse, Art, David, Russell and her very special sister Margaret and brother-in-law Geno.

She will be fondly remembered by her 4 sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by many friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Salvation Army, 2030 Second Avenue, Trail, BC on September 24 at 1:30 pm.
