It is with great sadness the family of Charles (Chuck) Arnold Lee announce his sudden passing on June 12, 2017. Chuck was only diagnosed with 4th stage lung cancer May 31/17 after feeling unwell. He leaves behind Edie, his companion of more than 30 years and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who considered him their own. He was predeceased by his step-mother Mabyn, whom he loved dearly and who raised him as her own as he lost his mom when he was 1 year old. He is also leaves behind his siblings and extended family in Ontario that he never saw enough but who were constantly in his thoughts and prayers.

Chuck’s time was divided between running his water conditioning business first in Salmon Arm and then in the Kooteney’s and spending life with Edie as they travelled back and forth to each other, dancing, touring, playing games, visiting the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A romantic to the end, even struggling for breath in his last days in ICU, he lifted his oxygen tubes to look Edie in the eyes and to gasp to her that she was gorgeous. Chuck loved babies and crowned himself the baby inspector of the mall and would fawn over each little one he saw.

Chuck was active in his community as a member of the Legion, Lions and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an active friend of Bill W’s and would have been a friend for 32 years in July. He would hope his brothers and sisters there continue to remember his commitment and strength as an example for them even as they remember him as kind, incredibly intelligent, witty with a dry sense of humour and yes, as a bit of a curmudgeon.

Chuck’s final wishes were to be cremated and then sent back to his brothers and sisters in Ontario to be interred with his brother Bud. We are eternally grateful to the RCMP officers, CMTs, doctors and nurses of Trail, BC who helped us during Charles’ final days.

One final message from she, who called Chuck dad, “Chuck, I’m sure you are taller and handsomer where you are now. Much love. You will be deeply missed.”

A private family service will be held at a later date.
