January 22, 1950 - July 28, 2018
Dave is survived by his wife Margaret, his children Michael (Melanie), Sara (Simon) Oakley and Adam and his grandchildren Kya, Kenzie, Gemma, Marlow, and Joanna.  He is also survived by his brother Bruce (Wendy), and sisters Lucille (Steve) Bradshaw, Annette (Jan) Johansen and Lois Roberts (Al Kuffert) and families, his mother-in-law Frances Vanderpol and brothers-in-law Kees (Mayumi) Vanderpol and Paul (Christa) Burkart, sister-in-law Jeannette Jarvie and many nieces and nephews.

Dave was predeceased by his parents Frank (Mick) and Joy Thiel, sisters Marilyn, Maureen, Carol, and Theresa, brother John and father-in-law Martin Vanderpol.

After graduating from J.L. Crowe in 1968 and completing his post-secondary studies he returned to Trail.  He worked in various departments in Cominco retiring from IT in 2005.

He will be remembered for his love of Harleys, Montreal Canadiens, bridge (and any other game), camping and travel, life on the "Bench", life on the mountain, and the Star of David. He will sadly miss the legalization of marijuana.

A Celebration of Life for Dave will be held at 598 Baerg Road, Castlegar (Ootischenia) on Saturday, August 11 from 10 - 12. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in Dave's name may be made to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca.
