EWINGS, David passed away with his family by his side on August 24, 2010 in Fruitvale, BC. He was born in Trail on March 27, 1921, being the oldest child of George and Ivy Ewings. Dave moved to Fruitvale with his family when he was 9 years old, where he lived until he was 68 years old.

While he was growing up, Dave was involved in many sports (being a great athlete). Baseball was his great love, where he excelled as a pitcher. In later years bowling and badminton gave him a lot of enjoyment.

Dave gave years of his life to the 2nd World War. After the war was over he started dating Florence McInnis and they married on October 29, 1947. As the years passed, Dave and Florence’s family grew to six with the addition of four daughters. They lost an infant son in 1954. Dave and Florence have eight grandsons and 1 granddaughter, and two great grandchildren.

In 1986 Dave lost Florence to cancer. Three years later he met and married his second wife Millie Ragsdale of the USA. Dave inherited one more daughter, Yvonne. He spent 21 years in the United States enjoying travelling and the warmth of Arizona. Dave met and loved many friends in those years. In 2009, Dave lost his second wife to cancer and in the following year he moved back to Canada to his hometown of Fruitvale.

Dave leaves his sisters Doreen and Betty, daughters Shirley Ewings of Fruitvale and her sons David and Daniel, Sharon Rothwell (Alan) and their sons Ferris (Marty), Evan (Brianne) and Michael (Andrea), Cathy Cook (Bryan) and their daughter Janna (Brad) and grandchildren Brelyn and Jaryan, and sons Branden (Sarah) and Brett, Dawn Campbell and her son Lee (Dani), Yvonne Priddy (Paul) their sons Josh (Kelly), Justin (Laurie) of the USA and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents George and Ivy Ewings, his infant son David Hugh, his first wife Florence, his brother George, his second wife Millie, and his sister Ivy.

An open house celebration of Dave’s life will be held at Nipkow Greenhouse Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Al Grywacheski of Personal Alternative Funeral Services “Carberry’s Chapel” is entrusted with arrangements.
