Dave passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2015, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife Dianna of 53 years, his son Darrin (Christine), and daughter Darilyn (Derrick) Simister. Dave was the proud grandfather of Spencer Simister and Alexys and Akyra Jones.
David was born in Rossland on April 20, 1940. He grew up in Rossland and worked as a logger for his father (Jones Ties and Poles sawmill in Paterson), a Cat Operator at Fording Coal, Maintenance Foreman and Volunteer Fireman, Village of Elkford, and a Millwright for Cominco/Teck from 1977 until his retirement in 2001.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (2396 Columbia Ave, Rossland, BC) on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 11:00am with Father Bart van Roijen, Celebrant. Interment at Mountain View Cemetery to follow the Mass. Following the Interment there will be a Celebration of Life at Redstone Resort Golf Club, Rossland followed by a “Toast to Dave” at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Rossland. Jordan Wren of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
