Diana Falat of Fruitvale, passed away peacefully at Poplar Ridge Pavilion on March 20, 2017. Diana was born on April 8, 1940 in Lowell, Massachusetts and lived in the U.S. through her young adulthood. She was drawn to British Columbia when she met and married her one true love, Walter. Diana and Walter settled in Fruitvale in 1965 and started a family. Diana was devoted and loving to her family, but she also found time to be a caregiver to other children, as well as a catechism teacher at St. Rita’s Parish Church. Diana enjoyed spending time with friends camping at area lakes, watching wild birds at her many backyard feeders, and just being with family.

Diana is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Walter, and her children; Darrin Falat and Donna-Marie Olsen. She was predeceased on the same day of her passing by her brother, David Leavitt of Brewster, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 27th, 2017 at 10:30am at St Rita’s Catholic Church in Fruitvale with Father Ben Buela, Celebrant. Burial will take place following the Mass at Fruitvale Memorial Cemetery. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation ServicesTM has been entrusted with arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in Diana’s name may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association at 1589 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna BC, V1Y 5Y7 or online at www.diabetes.ca.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Poplar Ridge and Diana’s niece Lynda, who with others has been of special comfort to Diana and the family.
