Oct 4, 1939 - Mar 24, 2018
It is with heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy (Dottie) Eleanor McCabe on March 24, 2018 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.

Dottie is survived by her loving husband Raymond, sons; Kelly, Aaron (Charlene) and Ronnie, daughter Heather, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sisters; Carol Miller of Calgary, Barb Ryder (George) of Grand Forks, and sister-in-law Alice of Rivervale. Dottie was predeceased by her parents Len and Verna Negus and brother Dale.

Dottie was born in Trail on October 4, 1939. She grew up in Warfield and at age 11 moved to Green Avenue. The family enjoyed summers at the sand bar, waterskiing and picnicking. She graduated at JL Crowe class of 1957 and then worked as a telephone operator in Trail. In 1959, after a whirlwind courtship Dottie and Raymond eloped, tying the knot at the Hitching Post in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Soon after they were married, they lived in Nelson, Trail, Victoria, Terrace, and Comox and back to the Trail area in 1988.

Mom loved her flowers and gardens and nature. She enjoyed her family and friends. She especially loved her life-long friends who met regularly for Grad luncheons throughout the years. Mom loved to dance (jive) to the popular 50's tunes. She was a very kind and thoughtful woman who loved her children, grandchildren and life with Raymond.

A Celebration of Dottie's life will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Trail Royal Canadian Legion Branch #11. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in Dottie's name may be made to the SPCA at 7700 Hwy 3B, Trail, BC, V1R 4X2 or online at www.spca.bc.ca
