Eleanor Eva MacKay - 1937 - 2017.
It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eleanor Eva MacKay (nee: Manson), on October 30, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born on February 10, 1937 in Brandon, Manitoba to parents Bill and Rubina Manson.
Eleanor was a member of Rebecca Lodge since 1972, and loved bowling, knitting and crocheting, playing crib and canasta.
Eleanor loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, her dog Ladybug, and being at Christina Lake. She had a huge heart and helped foster children over the years giving them a home.
Eleanor is survived by her husband Brian of 65 years, three sons Bob (Carm), Brian, Gord (Julie), daughter Robyn, and grandchildren Jarrod, Jordan, Sydney, Adam, Heather, Tammy, Kelly, and Megan, six great-grandchildren Hailey, Max, Kipanga, Mason, Isabella and Emily.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the amazing and wonderful staff at Columbia View Lodge and Talarico Place and for the care they provided for Eleanor, to Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services and Castlegar Funeral Chapel for the arrangements, Celebrant Reverend Elizabeth Huether and to all our family and friends for their love and support during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held November 17, 2017 at 11:00 am, Castlegar Funeral Chapel, 411 - 9th Avenue, Castlegar BC.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Eleanor's name made to the Alzheimer Society of BC, 300 - 828 W. 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1E2, would be greatly appreciated.
