Eva Cordischi (nee Morelli), long-time resident of Trail, BC, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in Kelowna.
Eva and her husband immigrated from Venere, Italy in 1960. The couple settled in Trail with few belongings and their two daughters. They worked hard to make ends meet, sacrificing to raise their family which soon after included another daughter. Eva held various jobs to help make ends meet. She took in laundry, washed dishes, did janitorial work and cooked.
Eva instilled this strong work ethic in her children and believed in getting an education so that her children could have a better life. Eva loved having a good laugh, tending her vegetable garden, and knitting. She was also a long-time member of Sorelle Colombo.
In 2006, Eva moved to Kelowna to be near her daughter, Marisa. Eva was always one to speak her mind but she also kept much to herself. When Eva reminisced about the family's history and growing up with a widowed mother and six siblings, the stories left us filled with reverence at the strength she showed to endure the strife and rise above the struggles. Eva would agree that in spite of it all her greatest legacy was her family.
Eva is predeceased by her husband, Donato. She is survived, and will be greatly missed, by her daughters Marisa, (Emil), Angela, (Arthur), Sonia, (Allen), grandchildren Jason, Melissa, Chris, Ashley, Cody, Brendan, Alyssa, and great- grandchildren Braydn, Taylyn, and Breeanna.
Thank you mom and dad for all you have done and supporting us in getting the education you were never able to receive. We will never forget.
A visitation will be held at Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Servicestm "Carberry's Chapel", 1298 Pine Avenue, Trail on Saturday, June 16, at 12:00 pm. Entombment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, Rossland. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
