Jul 1, 1926 - Dec 21, 2017
Freda passed away peacefully on December 21, 2017 with family by her side at the Poplar Ridge Pavilion in Trail, BC. She was born in Grayson, Saskatchewan on July 1, 1926.

She moved to BC in the 1950's, living in Fruitvale, and then settling in Trail in the 1970's.

She worked at Columbia View Lodge for a number of years, starting in laundry and then became a Long-Term Care Aide until her retirement. She also represented her HEU union during her employment. She was a hard-working, dedicated individual.

Freda enjoyed traveling to Creston to visit her mother, and to attend family reunions where lots of family, friends and neighbours joined in the celebrations.  She also relished the trips she made to Saskatchewan, the highlights being the time spent with family.

Her hobbies were her home, where she liked to putter and grow her roses. She also loved to sew, passing her talent onto others.

She had a mischievous side and loved to laugh. When she straightened her shirt, and waved her finger at you, you knew she meant business. All she had to do was give you "that look."

Freda is mourned by her children, Linda (Roger) Cox, Sandra and Marilyn Lowenberg.

Freda came from a family of 9 in which she was the second oldest and was affectionately known as "the General". She is mourned by her siblings, Bertha Switzer, Bill, Wilfred (Evelyn), Ed (Elsie), Kasper (Marie) and Jerry Mayer.

Freda was predeceased by her son Terry and his wife Barb, her mother Mary Flegel, brother Albert, sister Irene Davis, and sister-in-law Diane Mayer.

Freda has 6 grandchildren, Phil and Rick Milburn, Steve, Darryl, Dale and Leanne Lowenberg. She also has 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many "great" others.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Poplar Ridge Pavilion for all their excellent care, kindness and compassion during Freda's stay.

There will be no service by request. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in Freda's name may be made to a charity of your choice.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family's online register at www.myalternatives.ca.
