It is with great sorrow that we announce that Gordon McBlain passed away on November 26, 2017 in Trail with his family by his side. He was born on October 25, 1923 in Hafford, SK.
As a young man, Gordie enlisted in the Canadian Army and he served overseas. After the War, Gordie continued to farm until 1967 when the family moved to Fruitvale.
He was a member of the Speers, SK, Fruitvale and Trail Royal Canadian Legions. Gordon and Alma were snowbirds for many winters and they enjoyed trips to the Caribbean, Hawaii, Holland, Spain, and Gordon's trip of a lifetime, to Africa.
Gordon is predeceased by his parents; Pete and Madeline, his 4 brothers; Malcolm, Quinton, Bruce and Alex, his sister Ethel, his brother-in-law Edgar, his brother and sister-in-law Cliff and Betty, his brother-in-law Bob, his much loved daughter-in-law Barb and his grandson-in-law Gino.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Alma, his sons; Malcolm and Don (Brenda), his daughter Brenda (Dave), his grandchildren; Dave (Sharleen), Sherry, Cory (Christine), Becky (Chris), Robbie (Kenny), Jody (Delaney), Michele (Kevin) and Jeff (Julia), 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-granddaughters and nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Drs. Behrens and Neil and the wonderful staff at Beaver Valley Clinic, the Hospital Staff at KBRH as well as John and Sue at Mountain Side Village for their kind and compassionate care.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Gordon's memory to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 11 at 2141 Columbia Avenue, Trail, BC, V1R 1K8.
By request, there will be no formal service. The family will gather at a later date. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
