Helen was born on February 23, 1923 on her father’s dairy farm in Jellyby near Brockville, Ontario. Helen passed away in Trail Regional Hospital on January 28 with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, John Munch in 1996.

She is lovingly remembered by three sons; Rod (Cindy), Greg (Sandy), and Art (Jennifer); five grandchildren; Stacia (Fern), Steven (Lindsey), Eric (Julie), Derek (Lindsey), Jocelyn (Corey), and nine great-grandchildren; Aleeda, Arden, Adley, Weston, Jameson, Savannah, Jacob, Logan, and Dylan.

Helen earned her Registered Nurse qualifications at Brockville General Hospital and worked at Montreal General before transferring to Trail Regional Hospital in 1946.

Helen was a kind, giving, and exemplary wife and mother. Always putting others’ needs before her own, Helen’s motto for life was to never hurt anyone.

Helen and husband John raised their family in Castlegar, Montrose, and Beaver Falls. In later years, she lived in Silver City Gardens and eventually, Rosewood Village, where she was well liked and respected by all the staff and residents.

A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish at 2012 Third Avenue in Trail on Friday, February 3 and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the same location at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 4 with Father Bart van Roijen, Celebrant.
