The family of Helen Marie Moroso regret to announce her sudden passing in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Sunday, February 23rd, 2014 at the age of 86 years.

Helen was born in Trail, B.C. on November 7th, 1927 to William and Mary Finn. She spent her youth swimming in the Columbia River and at her parents’ cabin in Robson. Helen also loved ice skating, roller skating and dancing. She met Fred Moroso at a dance and in October 1952 they wed. Their two daughters were born in Trail. When the girls were young Helen and Fred moved to Vernon leaving many lifelong friends behind. They took over the Pacific 66 Bulk Oil Plant. Helen was the bookkeeper there for 20 years. Upon retirement Helen and Fred enjoyed several years travelling throughout Canada and the United States in their motorhome. They belonged to the Good Sam Camping Group and later the Explorer Camping Group. Cruises were also high on their list of activities. Helen’s last two cruises were to Alaska in 2009 and Mexico in 2010. Fairly recently she went on an eight-day “Mystery Tour” and was up for the adventure. Family meant everything to Helen and she very much enjoyed these special times. Helen kept active with swimming, daily walks, organized exercise classes of which she was a participant for 40 years, golfing and luncheons with friends. She enjoyed knitting, baking and in the summer she did her own canning.

Helen is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Joy Lippert and Kelly (Geoff) McKeown; grandsons, Morgan Lippert and Cary Lippert; granddaughter, Cassidy (Luke) Hannis; and grandson, Graham McKeown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Moroso in March, 2005 and her son-in-law, Reiny Lippert in July 2010.

Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Helen’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 21st, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Andrew Vander Leek officiating. A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Helen to the Abbeyfield House Society, P.O. Box 416, Vernon, B.C. V1T 6M3.
