It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother Irene Buratto on February 10th with her daughters by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Sante Buratto in 1993 and son-in-law John Cristofanetti in 2004. Irene was born on April 25,1922 in Santi Angeli, Treviso, Italy.
She joined Sante in Canada in 1951 where they built a loving life together. Irene will live on in the hearts of her daughters Elena and Lucie (Chuck), grandchildren Elenita (Geoff ), Julie (Sam ), Jason and Michael and great-grandchildren Kailas, Therin, Mariah, Sammy and James and numerous nieces and nephews in Italy.
Mom was devoted to her children, grandchildren and to her Catholic faith.
After dad passed, mom maintained his tradition of a healthy and very productive garden. She loved to sit outside at the end of a busy gardening day with a glass of wine and a cigarette, and was always ready to offer advice or sit and pray with you.
The family wishes to express appreciation and gratitude for the loving care mom received during her last years in Poplar Ridge at Kootenay Boundary Hospital. Your compassion, supportive friendship and affection will last in our hearts forever.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Bart van Roijen, Celebrant. Entombment will take place at the Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
