Jacqueline Irene Keane passed away peacefully Thursday, September 18 surrounded by close friend and family.

She was born May 16, 1932 in New Westminster, BC. She graduated from St. Paul’s Hospital nursing school in 1954. From then she worked in several hospitals in BC including The Royal Columbian in New Westminster, Prince George, Revelstoke, Hope, Quesnel, McBride, and Houston. She married Brian Keane in 1961 and traveled around BC with his job with the Ministry of Highways. In 1968 she moved to Trail with her family. After her children were school age, she resumed work part time as a maternity nurse in the Trail Regional Hospital in 1972 and gradually became full time before retiring in 1993.

She is survived by her daughters Colleen Keane of New Westminster and Shelagh Buchmann, grandson Alex and son-in-law Oliver of Fort McMurray, sister Betty Hensley of Trail, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A huge thank you to her all her dear friends and family who made her last weeks and days enjoyable and fun – you all know who you are. You gave so much of yourselves and she thoroughly enjoyed the parties . They gave her strength and happiness. Special thanks to her retired nurse friends who nursed the nurse through her last year and months. Words cannot express the thanks for your kindness, wisdom, and selfless help. Thank you to all of her medical practitioners - Dr. Phillips, Dr. Richard, Dr. Zhang, Dr. Ksiazek, Dr. Loomes , therapists, nurses, and social workers. Thank you to the nurses of 3rd floor Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for keeping her comfortable and cheery. You have all been wonderful.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Bart van Roijen, Celebrant. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
