It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Furiak on April 26, 2017 at the age of 83. He was born October 26, 1933 in Trail, BC.

Joe retired from Cominco Ltd. in 1992 after 40 years of service as a Machinist/Tool & Die Maker/Draughtsman. He had also been active in the Trail Pipe Band as piper, bass drummer and treasurer for over 50 years. His other interests were the Amateur Ham Radio Club. VE7 BAD is now a “silent key”. He enjoyed drawing posters and cartoons for peoples' special occasions. His signature on those pictures will be remembered as “BiJo”.

Family was very important to him as he will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Liliana and his children: Teresa (Terry) Mandoli, Bruce (Janice) Furiak, Frances (John) Ziros, and Susan (David) Henke. Grandchildren: Steven and Shawna Mandoli, Melissa (David) Peters, Staci and Zachary Furiak, Veronika and Anastazia Ziros, Sara and Caleb Henke. Great-grandchildren: Eli, Sofia and Katie-Anne Peters. Also survived by brother-in-law Irvin Bowie, sisters-in-law: Theodora Furiak and Elaine Furiak and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was predeceased by his parents Jozef and Helen, brothers Mike and Bob, sister Anne and grandson Angel Joey Henke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Father Bart van Roijen on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Trail. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with the arrangements.
