It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandma, baba, sister and aunt on November 19, 2013 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail, BC.
She was born on May 12, 1929 in Winlaw, BC; the second oldest of five children.
Laura was predeceased by her parents, Alec and Fanny Zarchukoff, her brother Alex, her sister Mary Wishlow, her husband Raymond Desnoyers, her son-in-Law Peter Weishaupt and her grandson-in-law Donald Reed. She is survived by her two sisters, Winnie Carlsen, Barb Basaraba, her brother-in-law Fred Wishlow, her three daughters, Lynn (John) Phillips, Celia Weishaupt, Geri (Marcel) Levesque, her three sons, Gene (Nita) Desnoyers, Victor (Jenn) Desnoyers, and Roger (Brenda) Desnoyers, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Laura lived independently, was the matriarch of our family, worked hard at many jobs all her life, had a great sense of humour, was very practical in everything she did, knitted afghans, crocheted doilies for the whole family, loved cribbage, gardening and cooking, and smiled at everyone she met. Mom will be greatly missed.
By Laura’s request, there will not be a Funeral Service. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Laura’s life will take place at a later date. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
