Lena Opsahl, 85, of Trail, British Columbia.

With great sadness we announce that Lena passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 8, 2014 at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. Lena was born January 7, 1929 and was proud to call Trail home her entire life. She is predeceased (1999) by her late husband of 48 years, Walter (Wally) Opsahl.

Lena was a teller at the Bank of Montreal in downtown Trail where she worked for the better part of 25 years. The ‘Bank’ always held a special place in Lena’s heart as she loved working with the customers and she made amazing lifelong friendships she treasured. She married Wally in 1951 and the two best friends enjoyed 48 wonderful years together. Lena especially loved their summers camping at Christina Lake and running around in the motorhome like ‘gypsies’ in their retirement years.

Survivors include both sons, Terry (Karen) Opsahl of Trail, BC and Darren (Lisa) Opsahl of Surrey, BC. Granddaughter, Andrea (Rob) Scupham nee Opsahl of London, England; grandson Kevin (Jennifer) Opsahl of Winnipeg, Manitoba; grandson Jack Opsahl and granddaughter Ella Opsahl both of Surrey, BC; her brother Vic (Judy) Morandini of Chilliwack, BC and numerous nieces and nephews.

By request, there will be no funeral service. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.

If you wish to make a donation in Lena’s name, please contact the KBRH Health Foundation directly at 250-364-3424 and declare your desire to support the Renal Unit on Lena’s behalf. The Renal Unit held a special place in Lena’s life as she spent a great deal of time there with the amazing staff over the last few years.
