Sadly the family of Leonardo Alfredo “Al” Lavorato wishes to announce his passing at Castleview Care Centre, on Saturday, March 1, 2014, blessed with 93 years of age.
Al was born in Aprigliano, Cozzia, Italy on July 4, 1920 to parents Caterina and Pasquale Lavorato. After immigrating to Canada, on May 10, 1948, he married Margaret Campbell and the couple raised two children. He was World War II veteran and after working at Cominco for 38 years, Al retired. During his 36 years of retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing ball and lacrosse and cross-country skiing.
He was predeceased by his brother Frank and his sisters Mary and Angie.
Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 65 years Margaret; his sons Garry (Judy) and Dave (Wendy); five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and an extended family.
Cremation has taken place in care of Castlegar Funeral Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
