Maria was born on January 19, 1935 in Lucca, Italy and passed away suddenly in Trail, BC on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the age of 79.
She was a beloved wife, mother, nonna and friend.
Maria leaves behind her loving husband Idamo of 53 years. She is also survived by her daughters Anna (John) Whyte and Manuela (Brent) Simister along with her four grandchildren, Brennan, Christopher, Melanie and Serena; also her one sister, in Italy, Angelina and many good friends who will also miss her greatly.
Maria has left a lasting impression in all our hearts. Many people benefitted from her expertise in the kitchen! She was known for her peaches, cherries and delicious lasagna. She was a very active nonna in her grandchildren’s lives supporting them in whatever their interests were.
She was a shining presence in the various social activities she attended. Maria shared her joy wherever she went in her community. She loved her Bingo and her casino trips. Maria was an active member of the Sorelle di Colombo and the Italo-Canadese.
Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Holy Trinity Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Parish with Father Jim McHugh, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Trail Mausoleum. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
