It is with great sadness that the family of Maria (Mary) Zanier announces her passing away suddenly on July 3, 2016 at the age of 82.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law Nicola Murano, nephew Carmine, niece Maria Teresa, grand-niece Rosie and Nicole, grand-nephews Bernie and Marcus and the many friends she had within the community. She is predeceased by her father Attilio, mother Santa and sister Enoe-Rosa (Anna). Mary was born on February 14, 1934 in San Martino, Italy and came to live in Trail, BC with her family in 1951. Mary had a zest for life and a love for birds, cats and dogs. She built an aviary in her backyard where she raised budgies, canaries and cockatiels. She enjoyed travelling the world and visited places such as China, Guatemala and Africa. Mary was an active and valued member of several social clubs such as the San Martino Club, CWL, Italo Canadese and Colombo Lodge. Mary (Zia) was kind, a tower of strength, a role-model and very supportive of our dreams and aspirations. She will be dearly missed. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm in “Carberry’s Chapel”, 1298 Pine Avenue, Trail and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Parish, 2012 3rd Avenue, Trail, BC with Father Bart van Roijen, Celebrant. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Mary’s name may be made to the Trail SPCA at 7700 3B Hwy, Trail, BC V1R 4X2 or a charity of your choice.
