It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marianna Sammartino on September 3, 2010 in Langley, BC.
Marianna was born on January 15, 1911 in Agnone, Compobasso, Italy. She immigrated to Canada in 1933 to Trail with her husband Lorenzo. She was kept very busy raising a family of 10. She moved to Balfour in 1958 with her husband and the younger children.
She loved spending time in her garden and flower beds. The beautiful flowers and roses were living proof of the pride she took in her home. Her door was always open to family and friends both old and new. After losing her home to a fire Marianna relocated to Langley in 2006.
Marianna is survived by her Daughter Silvia (Jim), son Lorni (Marlene), daughter Loretta and step daughter Mary plus 26 grandchildren and 44 great grand children. She was pre deceased by her Lorenzo, sons Ricco and Gino; step sons Emilio, Michael and Romeo and step daughter Ida.
Vigil service will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Wednesday September 15, 2010 at 7:00 pm followed by Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 10:30 am with Father Gabriel as celebrant. Bill Clark of Personal Alternative Funeral Services “Carberry’s Chapel” is entrusted with the arrangements. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 908 Rossland Ave., Trail, BC V1R 3N6 as an expression of sympathy.
