Merlene Plested - a long-time resident of Fruitvale, passed away peacefully in the presence of the Lord with her family by her side, at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital on July 2, 2018.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years Oscar Purdy, her daughters; Belinda Moen, Melanie Schulze (Roy), Erin Purdy (Stephen) and Kerry Anne Purdy, 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, her brother Mernie, her sisters; Bonnie, Judy and Gwen and their families. She is predeceased by her parents Pat and Freda Plested and her sister Shirley.

Merlene was an avid competitor and loved playing games with family; card games, board games and yard games. She really enjoyed visiting and being with her family. Some of her favourite memories were made at family reunions at Osoyoos Lake.

She was a long-time member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church. She had a great passion for fellowship and serving the Lord.

A Celebration of Merlene's life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Trail, BC on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverends Meridyth and Gavin Robertson officiating. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in Merlene's name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church - Campership Fund at 1139 Pine Avenue, Trail, BC, V1R 4E2.
