It is with sadness that the family of Mona York announces her passing on February 8, 2014.

Mona was born on November 5, 1916 at Padstow, AB. As a young woman Mona moved to the Sheep Creek Mine south of Salmo to act as a domestic. There, on a Christmas Eve, she met her husband-to-be G. Boyce York. They married on December 9, 1939. The young couple moved to acreage at Nelway where they raised their three daughters.

Mona was a homemaker and a supportive and dedicated mother. She loved her gardens and could make anything grow. She was an excellent seamstress and knitter. She loved children especially her grandchildren and most recently her great grandchildren.

Mona was predeceased by her parents, siblings Jim and Robin, her husband Boyce York (1985) and her son-in-law Jack Bryden (2012).

Left to mourn their loss are daughters Patricia Morrison, Barbara Robinson (Bill) and Ellen Bryden; her grandchildren James Jobe (Tammy), Toby Robinson and Patrick Price (Laura) as well as her great-grandchildren Ireland, Noah and Sawyer Price.

Mona will be remembered for her sweet and gentle nature and in the face of adversity for her tremendous courage and inner strength. She touched many lives and will be missed.

There will be no funeral at this time. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date.

The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff of Rosewood Village for their compassion and caring particularly in her final days.
