Dad, like many other young men of the time, went off to fight in WWII. He fought with the Irish regiment of Canada that followed through to Holland. Upon his return to the Kootenays, Dad spent many years exploring the area and part of that was working an active mine claim his mother shared with him in Slocan Valley. He married the love of his life Winnie in 1947. He worked at Cominco until his retirement at the age of 65 in 1987.

A special thank you to all the staff at Poplar Ridge who cared for dad during his years there. A remembrance luncheon will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 11 (2141 Columbia Ave. Trail, BC) on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 11.00 am. Jordan Wren of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
