Broman- Paul Bernard, born in Trail, BC on July 31, 1932, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.

Paul is predeceased by his parents, Joel and Ida Broman and brother Bert; survived by his brother Kurt (Joan) and sisters; Estrid Martin, Anita Aspinall, Alfie Fox and June Tremblay.

He leaves behind his soul mate of 31 years, Pauline Panagopka; his children, Bonnie (Aldo) Quattrucci, Linda (Tim) Teindl, Lorne (Amy) Broman, Laurie (Bill) Sawatsky and Randy Panagopka; his grandchildren, Jarrod (Melissa) Teindl, Jesse (Ashleigh) Teindl, Taya Broman, Jake Sawatsky, Brice DeMelo and great-grand daughters, Makayla, Kaitlyn and Madison; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews who all carry on the Broman legacy of kindness and gentleness.

The world has lost a kind and gentle soul. Paul was a family man with a heart of gold. Dad’s pleasures in life were simple. He loved his family and friends and found goodness in everyone. Anyone who was blessed to know him, knows what a great sense of humour he had. He spent much leisure time with his family at Kootenay Lake on their boat, on the boathouse. He was known to many as the “Kokanee Kid.” It’s even been said that “fish feared the man.” He was quite the animal whisperer, befriending the likes of chickens (Chickory), birds, squirrels (Ivan and Ivanna), skunks, bunnies (Hugga-Bunny) and his best friend to the end Molly the dachshund.

In short, Dad had too many redeeming qualities to count, but anyone fortunate enough to have known him was blessed.

The caring staff at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital are too many to name and your kindness is much appreciated by the family. A very heartfelt thanks to Dr. Smith and the special nursing staff who helped make Dad’s journey a peaceful one. Also a big thanks to friends and family who supported Dad and his family during this time. Special thanks to our Mom, Lorraine (Darcy) Niblow.
