1952 - 2014

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Peter Underwood; a forever resident of Rossland, B.C. on March 3, 2014.

Peter was born November 22, 1952 to Gladys and Alan Underwood. He is survived by his father Alan of Rossland /Trail, B.C. and his brother Rick of Victoria, B.C. He was predeceased by his mother Gladys and brother Tom.

Peter leaves a legacy of joy and happiness to all that knew him. So many were inspired by the flowers he grew, the bouquets he made, the Christmas trees he decorated all sweetened by the cookies and baking he so graciously gave. Peter had an especially rich green thumb.

Peter was artistic and talented and had the gift of making friends of everyone he met. He enjoyed gardening, baking, seasonal decorating, drawing, painting, music, visiting friends and family and travelling the world.

Peter attended school in Rossland and graduated in Trail. As a young man he worked in Banff, the Parks Board in Qualicum Beach and then on to Cominco.

He enjoyed his years with Cominco/Teck starting in 1971 at the Zinc Tank Rooms, moving to the Lead Casting and Alloy Plant in 1984 then was transferred to the Janitorial Department. To quote one of his bosses, Peter’s “reputation for honesty and telling people the way it is, is known throughout the Company.” In 2012 Peter retired from Teck where he was honoured with 38 years of service. Peter looked forward to his retirement but unfortunately due to health issues he was deprived of this.

Peter will be greatly remembered for his caring heart and will be missed by his family and friends and all with whom he associated. Peter is now planting flowers with his Mom in Heaven and baking cookies for Angels.

The family respectfully ask that donations may be sent to the Trail Regional S.P.C.A . (7700 Hwy 3B Trail, BC V1R 4X2)

A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at a later date. Jordan Wren of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
