It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our dad, nonno, zio, friend on August 4, 2017. Renato was born in Cardoso, a small village in Tuscany region of Italy on March 30, 1921. His adventurous spirit brought him and eventually his family to Canada in the 1950’s where he settled in Trail, B.C. for 60 years. He worked hard with everything he did: renovating his house, masonry walls, woodworking and gardening. He faithfully attended the junior hockey games in Trail and Coquitlam (where he lived from 2011 to 2017), but always cheered for Trail when those teams competed against each other. Upon retirement, he took up cross country skiing (up to age 90!) and spent more time woodworking and gardening as well as swimming.

Renato always had time to give widowers a ride to church or up the hill from grocery shopping, or from the hospital where he spent every day visiting and tending to his wife Uliva for the last 10 years of her life. He shared his positive attitude and compassion to other patients at the hospital setting a wonderful example for everyone to witness.

Renato derived his true joy from his children, Ione, Sergio, Lori (Ken) grandchildren, Michael (Casey), Peter (Amanda), Stephen (Tanya), Natalie (Kevin) greatgrandchildren, Asher, Caleb, Micah, nieces, nephews, brother and sister in law, great nieces and nephews and was respected and loved by them in return.

Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption, Port Coquitlam on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 am.

As an expression of sympathy donations in Renato’s name can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Trail Regional Hospital Foundation, and the Alzheimer Society.
