Robert Gordon Brown passed away suddenly at his home in Trail, BC on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the age of 72.

He was born in Trail on October 10, 1943. Bob was predeceased by his parents Gordon Brown and Edith Brown Smyth and his stepfather Walter Smyth. He is survived by his beloved wife Maureen, son Michael Brown (Tricia), daughter Michelle Newman (Jon), and two stepdaughters Laura Brodowski (Peter) and Kristie Bruce (Ron).

He is lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren Evan, Jenna, Ella, Georgia and Gemma. Extended family and friends also mourn his loss.

Bob worked for Cominco for 33 years as a machinist/millwright. He loved teaching his children to downhill ski and enjoyed boating, camping, and spending time with friends and family. He had so many great memories of coaching his kids’ soccer teams. He also got into woodworking, especially with his friend Hank... and he found out, to his surprise, that he was really good at it!

After retiring from Cominco, he was one of the original staff at Wal-Mart when the store opened in Trail. He was the familiar face greeting people as they came in, and many timed their trips to Wal-Mart around when they hoped they would see his smiling, blue-eyed, dimpled face at the front. After retiring from Wal-Mart, he worked on a part-time basis at Ferraro Foods and Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services.

Bob’s family and his faith were the two most important things in his life. At 9am on any week day when his “brothers” from church were available, he could be found at Bagel & Brew Coffee Shop. They shared their faith, trials, challenges, and triumphs in a way that became an inspiration to many who came in for coffee and left with more... and the “brothers” strengthened and encouraged each other in every way they could.

The family would like to thank the emergency services responders and the doctors and hospital staff for the way they respected and cared for our beloved husband, father and friend. We are so grateful for your kindness and concern. Thank you Dr. Aiken and Dr. Ksiazek for everything you did for us.

Bob’s memorial service will be held at Gateway Christian Life Centre, 8320 Highway 3B, Trail, BC on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, Bob would appreciate memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity close to your heart.

Rest easy Sweetheart and Dad, know that your generosity, laughter, and the memories you made with all of us will remain in our hearts and minds forever.
