Our hearts break as we announce the passing of Ruth Ann Dougan. She was our pillar of strength and loved us with all her heart. She never complained and kept her sense of humour until the very end. Her greatest joys were visits from Ken and her family and getting out to enjoy family events, parties and holidays. She also liked joining her kids, grandkids and great grandchildren on life’s many adventures by means of her iPad which she learned to use after having a stroke.

She and Ken spent many happy years together in Rossland, then in Grand Forks. She enjoyed quilting and helping the quilting guilds in both cities. She also enjoyed playing bridge and curling. She treasured the many friends she met along the way.

Preceding her in passing are her sisters Lily Lyle, Norma Foster and Leta Saunders, and her brothers David Lyle and Charles McNab. Left to mourn are numerous nieces and nephews, her husband Ken Dougan, son Tom Smith, daughter Linda Como (nee Smith) (Mark Dennler), grandchildren Danielle Como (David Abenante), and David Como, and lastly but most cherished, her 3 great- grandchildren Nathan, Natalie and Johnny.

On her behalf we would like to thank her caregivers and friends at both Silver Kettle in Grand Forks, and Rose Wood Village in Trail.

For those of you reading this who have lost your mothers, our hearts go out to you. For those who still have their mothers, please give her call or better yet, go visit her and give her a big hug from all of us who can’t.
