It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Grace Bentley announce her passing peacefully at Columbia View Lodge on August 13, 2017. Shirley was born in Viking, AB. on August 3, 1949, moved to Trail, BC in 1972 with her husband Doug. They were supposed to be here one year but decided to stay in Trail and raise a family. She was a banker at TD and Warfield Credit Union until her health would not allow her to do so. Even though she would deny ever having any health concerns or ailments Shirley battle MS for almost 40 years and succumbed to the effects of a short battle with cancer. Whomever was honored to have met our mother would know that family came first. She is best known for always saying how she felt and would not hold back, it was black and white, you know where she stood. She was a very generous, thoughtful person and would put everyone else first, especially her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her two daughters Kim McIntyre (Mike), Sheri Bentley, and grandchildren Chris and Kaylee Colquhoun, Max Bentley, Jonny Como, and Ty and Zac McIntyre. Also, by her siblings, Pat, Sandra, Cheryl, Garth, and Sheldon. Open house will be held at 1020 Regan Cr., Trail (Sunningdale), on Wednesday, August 23 between 12 - 4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Shirley may be made to the MS Society of Canada. Donations can be made online at https://mssociety.donorportal.ca We would like to extend our gratitude to all of those who cared of our mother during these years and her final days; including those at Rosewood, Columbia View Lodge, KBRH, and Dr. Sue Benzer and Dr. Libby McCoid. Thanks to neighborhood nursing. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
