Stan was born in Bellevue, Alberta and moved to Nelson in 1938. He began his teaching career at a young age, and came to teach industrial arts when the Rossland Sr. Secondary School opened in 1951. Here he met Gael Gibson and they were married in 1955. Stan enjoyed his years as an active member of many community associations. After retirement he had more time to devote to carving, golf, times spent at Christina Lake, and travelling with Gael and good friends. He will be greatly missed by his wife Gael, son John, daughter Jane (Jim) Hutchison, grandchildren; Sam and Matt, brother-in-law; Grant (Isobel) Gibson, and several nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Kathy at the drugstore, the staff at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, and the BC Ambulance. Alexandra Butts of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements. Instead of flowers, take a walk in the woods, listen to the birds and the wind, and fondly think of Stan. As an expression of sympathy, a donation may be made to the Pacific Parkinson Research Centre Purdy Pavilion, UBC Hospital, M36 – 2221 Westbrook Mall, Vancouver BC V6T 2B5.
