William Richard Harry (Bill) Jolliffe

Bill Jolliffe passed peacefully into the Lord’s presence on February 3, 2014. One of seven children of Dick and Jenny Jolliffe, Bill was born April 1, 1929 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. While growing up, Bill did several jobs including delivering groceries on his bicycle, farm and grocery store work till moving to Rossland in 1947 and then to Warfield to work at Cominco. Bill worked at Cominco for 38 years as an assayist and journeyman painter. Bill enjoyed playing and watching hockey, skiing at Red Mountain, golf, travel or camping with family and friends, and many years of fishing at Schroeder Creek Resort on Kootenay Lake. His musical talents included playing trombone, tuba, baritone or bass drum in the local militia band. Bill was known for his cribbage games, stories, smiles and hearty laugh.

Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Astri (nee Rosland) and three children: Colleen (Ed) Erzinger of Penticton, Debbie (Stan) Wong of Surrey and Gary (Ruth) Jolliffe of Abbotsford. Bill enjoyed many happy times with his ten grandchildren Nils, Cedric, Karsten, Melissa, Sarah, Amanda, Kacia, Michelle, Zachary and Quinlin.

The family wishes to extend thanks to Dr. Zhang and Dr. McCoid. Special thanks to the dedicated staff of Renal Unit and Poplar Ridge Pavilion at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
