It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Marie Carter (Bonnie). She was born in Raymond Alberta on August 8, 1936 to Carl and Mildred Shields. She passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on May 5, 2016. She was one of three daughters. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
This very special daughter, wife, mother and grandmother leaves behind her loving husband of 61 years John Lial Carter, her four children Suzanne Smee (Jim), Carol Jo Link (Gary), Deana Woodley, Jerry Carter (Jerry), nine grandchildren Ryan Steck (Laralee), Todd Steck (Megan), Shauna Verdon (Chad), Megan Smee, Jared Brown (Krystal), Angela Quinton (Dalen), Nathan Brown, Stephanie Gerhardt (Ryan), Adam Woodley and 20 great grandchildren. She is survived by her two sisters Nona Woolston and Terry-Ann Hutchinson. She was predeceased by her parents and two grandchildren Rachel Steck and Aaron Allibone. Bonnie worked together with John for 40 years at the business they created, Carters Sewing Centre. She was a quilter and a seamstress. We all enjoyed her sense of humour and fun spirit at family dinners. She was patient, kind and loved all the babies born into our family. She enjoyed her small garden plots. Bonnie could be seen walking daily hand in hand with our Dad. Her family would like to thank the third floor staff of the Trail Regional Hospital for their wonderful care of our Bonnie in her last days.
A family service will be held on May 10, 2016 with burial to follow in the Nelson Memorial Cemetery. Al Grywacheski with Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
