Retiree's Curling: Burke climbs into top spot

The Primo Secco foursome jumped out to an early 7-0 lead over team Dan Horan.

In Retiree Men’s curling at the Trail Curling Club last week, the Primo Secco foursome jumped out to an early 7-0 lead over team Dan Horan.

Down but not out, Horan fought back and cut the lead to 10-8 after seven ends. Forcing Primo to throw his last rock for the win. Make the final 11–8 Secco.

Serge Pasquali wished he was by a pool rather than a frozen sheet of ice. Facing team ‘No Mercy’ Ernie Brown it was over after six ends with Ernie cruising to a 13 – 2 win.

The Brett Rakuson foursome was on the wrong side of every wick, bump and roll. The Pat Burke boys got all the breaks, and Pat made a couple of stealer shots. In a one sided game, Burke took over top spot in the standings with an 11–3 victory.

In another lopsided game team Kevin Oliver had team Murray Walsh’s number. That number was 8-3. The final score of the match.

Clare Coleman broke open a close game with a steal of four in the sixth end against team Tom Hall.

Going for broke in seven team Hall gave up two more, and called it quits. Make the final 10–2 for Coleman.

Tied at four after six ends team Alvin Caron took control of the game with a steal of two in the seventh end against Forrest Drinnan. Caron played all out defense in eight, kept it clean, and gave up a single in eight for a 6-5 Caron win.
