Trail Orioles win Little League championship

The Orioles beat the Nelson Angels in Sunday’s final

The Trail Orioles played some big league ball en route to their Little League championship.

The Orioles defeated the Nelson Angels 9-5 to win the West Kootenay Little League majors division title on Sunday afternoon at Queen Elizabeth Park.

Trail had to be flawless after a loss to the Angels on Saturday. The Angels meanwhile cruised through the tournament undefeated until falling short in the rematch.

The tournament was hosted by Nelson after the local Giants won last year’s title. This year’s event featured three Nelson teams, three from Trail and three from Castlegar as well as squads from Salmo and Beaver Valley.
