Downtown Trail is the place to be Saturday morning (May 4) for the Trail Pipe Band’s Spring Fling.

The must-see event will start at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of Eldorado Street and Bay Avenue, with the Trail Pipe Band and eight visiting bands marching individually along the esplanade to the Riverfront Centre.

More performances are slated to start at 11:30 a.m. on the esplanade, with the plan being a dress/deportment and medley competition.

Besides Trail, Spring Fling bands hail from Nelson, Grand Forks, Shuswap, Kamloops, Kimberley, Summerland, Kelowna, and Kalamalka.

Pipe Major Will Bain says rain or shine, the marching portion of the event will be outside on the esplanade as planned.

“Fingers crossed for nice weather,” he told the Times, adding that if it does pour, then the medleys will move indoors to The Bailey Theatre.
