November 25, 1940 - April 29, 2024

"He caught the morning Fish."

Fred was born on the 25th of November 1940 in Broadview, Saskatchewan. He passed away in the early morning of April 29th, 2024, in Trail, BC after a long and complicated series of health issues. Regardless of what the hurdle was, he was a good, spirited fighter and a source of strength right up to the end of his life.

He was predeceased by parents, Frederick and Evelyn Rody, sister Marjorie (nee Rody) Zamonsky, brother Wayne Rody and granddaughter, Joanne Rody.

Fred is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Jo Anne (nee Nicol) Rody and children; Shane (Colleen) Rody, Karen Rody, Dorothy Rody, Claudette (and family) Rody, Mayrita (Bob) Castle, Amy Dawn (Scott) McKay & fishing buddy nephew, Shawn (Thea) Mihalus.

He leaves his much-loved brood of grandchildren: Charismah Rody, Tyrone Rody, Tia & Taneesha Cheesequay, Elizabeth (Jerry) & Danny Castle, River McKay & next generation fishers Tessa, Gemma & Lila Mihalus.

Uncle Freddie will also be deeply missed by a number of nieces and nephews across the country as well as his remaining sibling Morley (Cathy) Rody.

Always counted on to be the life of the party, a cracker of bad jokes... his loud voice booming above all others... Fred was a union guy who was always ready to stand up for what he believed in. A lover of reading, golfing, pool, darts, baseball and football, his greatest times were spent offshore or in a canoe with a fishing-rod in hand.

Thank you to the staff of Poplar Ridge for their long-term care, but especially Dr. Michael Scully for his ongoing patience, compassion and concern.

Gwen Ziprick of Clark's Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

"Do not go gentle into that good night. Old age should burn and rage at close of day; rage, rage against the dying of the light." ~ Dylan Thomas
