Catholic Women's League holds AGM

The first Annual General Meeting of the Trail Catholic Community Council of the Catholic Woman’s League was held on Monday.

The first Annual General Meeting of the Trail Catholic Community Council of the Catholic Woman’s League was held on Monday at 7 p.m. in the upstairs room of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church with Father Jim and 30 members in attendance. The following members were installed by Sandra Stajduhar assisted by Father Jim: President: Teresa Mandoli; Organization (Vice President), Marjorie Nutini, Secretary: Grace DeBiasio; Treasurer: Paulette Ainsley (replacing Ivana Rhodes); Standing Committee Chair persons: Spiritual: Ruth Guercio; Community Life: Bunny Dallas; Education and Health: Selma Nutini and Mary Billingsley; Christian Family Life: Marlise Gattafoni; Communications: Elizabeth Cytra; Legislation and Resolutions: Connie Makse;  Parish Activities: Linda Zol and Lorna Perri.  New member, Flora Cutillo, was enrolled by Marjorie Nutini assisted by Father Jim and Past President Sandra Stajduhar. President Teresa Mandoli gave the annual report outlining the stages that took place to amalgamate the three former CWL councils. The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m. The next Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014.

The general meeting was called to order by President Teresa Mandoli at 7:35 with 28 members in attendance. With the assistance of Rosemarie Mandoli, Ruth Guercio read a version of the Stations of the Cross pertaining to women for Lent. Elizabeth Cytra reported on:  members were contacted re Vision Television; The World Health Organization (WHO) re preventing violence; Knights of Columbus web site re: pornography;  Canadians addressing Sexual Exploitation-CASE -ceased operations. Mary Hawkley (president) (CASE) thanked those who helped; Elizabeth encouraged members to go to cwl.org to read on line each month; Quiz in League magazine each month with answers the following month. Resolutions and Legislations: Connie Makse reported on: Products containing triclosan and distributed information sheets; Circulated petition to support Motion 408 by Mark Warawa which reads: That the House of Commons condemn discrimination against females occurring through sex-selective pregnancy termination; news about physician assisted suicide. Parish Activities: Linda Zol spoke about  Soup and Buns on March 20- Sandra Stajduhar, Teresa Veltri, Mary Billingsley and Anne Pisacreta (Nancy Golding will supply the buns); March 27- Mt. Carmel ladies; Church fall tea: Linda will contact St. Michael’s school for possible date. Past president: Sandra Stajduhar explained the process for instructed votes. The World Day of Prayer 2014 will be presented at OLPH (Holy Trinity) Program will be from the Women of Egypt. Palm Sunday Bake Sale March 24. Approval from Father has been obtained.
