Committee member Brian Volpatti is encouraging locals to get those papers in by the deadline on Friday, April 12, at noon, so a deserving person, or group, can be recognized at Silver City Days.

“It is all about volunteers, and there are so many in Trail and Warfield,” he said. “Some of them are visible, but many stay behind-the-scenes and do just as much work.”

Nomination packages can be picked up at several locations around Trail and Warfield. Those include the municipal offices, the Riverfront Centre, Kootenay Savings on Cedar Avenue, and a number of Trail churches.

Any resident of Trail or Warfield can submit a nomination as well as an organization that serves at least one of the two municipalities. And, the award isn’t specific to an age group.

“They (nominees) don’t have to be retirees or older people,” Volpatti said. “There are many young people who do a lot of good work in the area as well, so we try to cover all of our bases.”

This year’s recipient will be recognized in a public ceremony slated for May 7 in the St. Michael’s Catholic School gym.

Silver City days begins May 8 and will run until May 10.

For more information on the nomination process, contact Brian Volpatti at 250.364.1445.
