A former mayor of Fruitvale is being recognized for her 15 years of dedication tonight.

Libby Nelson said she’s not quite ready to be the centre of attention but she’ll get through it, when the “Times” caught up with her Wednesday.

“I feel really good,” she said after stepping out of municipal politics, making room for Mayor Patricia Cecchini to win the majority vote in last year’s municipal election. “They’ve got a good crew there and it was time to get out.”

Tonight’s recognition dinner held at the Fruitvale Memorial Hall will feature guest speakers MLA Katrine Conroy, Rossland Mayor Greg Granstrom, Trail Mayor Dieter Bogs, Mike Martin, LCCDT (Lower Columbia Community Development Team) chair, SD20 trustee Lorraine Manning and more.
