Mothers recycle clothes and toys

Cominco Gym sale connects families

To find a solution to every mother’s frustration of constantly buying clothing for their growing children, who at times seem to jump a size overnight, a group of local parents are putting on a big sale this weekend.

“It’s sometimes hard to get rid of things when you’re trying to clean out and sell or give away on your own. This is a really great way to do it easily,” explained Lisa Manaigre, recreation coordinator for Trail Parks and Recreation. “Just from my experience as a mom, they wear it two, three, four times and you forget about it and then they’re too small.”

Along with aquatic coordinator Gabby Kravski, Manaigre came up with Mothers Unite, a Trail event that connects families who have children’s items they no longer need.

Nearly 10 tables will be set up in the Cominco Gym, displaying “gently-used” clothing, toys, books, sporting goods and furniture for newborns to 12-year-olds.

The event in its second year running not only frees up storage space but also offers thrifty finds for those in search for affordable, quality items.

Mothers Unite will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
