Smoke n’ Steel Show set to shine at Gyro Park

Provided the weather holds out, organizers for the third annual Smoke n’ Steel car show have high hopes for this year’s event that takes place on Saturday.

Starting at 11 a.m., spectators can pile into Gyro Park where they can “ooh” and “ahh” over the entries, which will hopefully include hotrods to new tuners.

Car entries are made the day of, which is why organizers aren’t sure how many vehicles will be featured, or which clubs will decide to come if the weather isn’t great.

Last year the event had over 100 entries, about half of those local. In previous years the event has seen vehicles come from as far away as Creston, Cranbrook and Nakusp. The Spokane Corvette Club may also make an appearance.

“The locals, we’ll be there no matter what the weather’s like,” said Paul Turner, contact for the event.

Live music and food services will be on-hand throughout the day, with the show wrapping up at 3 p.m. All car classes will be featured, with trophies to be awarded in the afternoon.

There is no public entry fee, car entries are $20 and proceeds go towards prizes. For more information, contact Paul Turner at 250-368-9609.
