Trail Interact Club raises funds for orphanage

Members of the Trail Interact Club began the new year with a generous donation of $1,000 for Casa Hogar, a children's home in Mexico.

Members of the Trail Interact Club began the new year with a generous donation.

A cheque for $1,000 will be sent to Casa Hogar, Santa Julia in San Miguel, Mexico.

Casa Hogar is a children’s home, otherwise known as an orphanage, that the Interact club volunteered at last July.

The money from this donation will go towards a school for the hearing impaired as well as several screens for their projectors.

The club’s next fundraiser is a food and bottle drive happening on the morning of Jan. 28.

The club will be picking up bottles and non-perishable food items from Glenmerry and Miral Heights areas.

Any profit made from the bottles will be donated either internationally to Rotarian projects or within our community to places such as our local sanctuary.

Also, all food donations will be given to the Salvation Army.

Interact Club members are very appreciative of all the support within the city of Greater Trail.

“Without their support our donation would not have been possible,” said Miguel Legere, Interact member.

Throughout the new year Interact will continue fundraising, including the selling of planters and hanging baskets in the spring.
